Kevin Murphy digitizes the end-to-end management of their product information

The goal of Australian haircare brand Kevin Murphy’s PIM solution is to digitize the end-to-end management of their product information to expand their global presence.

The challenge

Over the past decades, Kevin Murphy has grown from a popular hair salon in Australia to a leading global haircare brand, sourcing the finest natural ingredients.

Today, Kevin Murphy has distributors in 62 countries worldwide and manages a complex product portfolio. It is crucial for the brand to comply with strict industry regulations in every market, requiring end-to-end control of product information.

All data in one place

A key element of Kevin Murphy’s digital transformation journey was the need to centralize control over its product information—from the creation of a new product to its availability for customers. Previously, data was scattered across multiple systems, requiring manual cleansing, enrichment, and distribution.

The solution was to integrate data across the entire value chain, ensuring a single source of truth.

The solution

Together with Kevin Murphy, we implemented inriver PIM to manage product complexity and ensure data governance across systems.

Kevin Murphy chose inriver for both PIM and DAM to fully leverage the Content Store, providing retailers with access to product specifications, images, and videos in one centralized location.

Kevin Murphy’s IPMC installation (inriver SaaS PIM) is built with a flexible integration to the existing ERP system, reducing system dependency. This flexibility is a key success factor, as Kevin Murphy is currently migrating to a new ERP system.

The result

The inriver platform enables Kevin Murphy to easily enrich and distribute product data, ensuring a single source of truth.

Now, product data is seamlessly integrated into the new B2C commerce site via a REST API, functioning as an app service in Azure. This ensures that customers receive relevant, accurate, and consistent product details and images.

The PIM solution supports global marketing efforts and facilitates collaboration across departments, including product development, marketing, and digital teams.

Kevin Murphy now has full control over data quality, improved governance across systems, and faster time-to-market.

The collaboration

International teamwork across continents

The PIM implementation team was a multinational team spanning three continents: Europe, North America, and Australia. Despite a 17-hour time difference, the Immeo-Kevin Murphy team successfully delivered the project on time.

Workshops and meetings were held digitally, with schedules adapted to accommodate key stakeholders across different time zones—ensuring global input and ownership.

Thanks to a strong collaboration with Kevin Murphy, we delivered the project faster than expected. MVP1 was ready in just 12 weeks.
