About Brødrene Kier

Brødrene Kier is a Danish-owned wholesaler specializing in steel, plumbing (VVS), and water and waste products.

As a smaller player in a highly competitive market, Brødrene Kier saw the need for a clear and targeted digital vision to compete with larger industry players.

The solution

Brødrene Kier implemented a scalable, cloud-based e-commerce platform, combining a webshop and a PIM system tailored to their specific needs.

By leveraging microservices on Microsoft Azure, the solution integrates the best-in-class technologies, ensuring flexibility, scalability, and seamless feature reuse across the platform.

Behind the solution

The webshop, built on Optimizely (formerly Episerver CMS), includes a customized commerce module designed specifically to meet Brødrene Kier’s business and customer needs.

A new Product Information Management (PIM) system was implemented using inriver Product Marketing Cloud. This centralized data hub efficiently manages product information across sourcing, enrichment, and distribution.

With PIM as a core component, Brødrene Kier now automates product information sourcing from suppliers, reducing manual work and ensuring data consistency.

The solution is fully cloud-integrated in Microsoft Azure, incorporating business functions for orders, shipping, customer accounts, and product management.

By structuring these functions as microservices, Brødrene Kier now has a dynamic, scalable digital platform that allows them to grow and continuously roll out new services.

The result

With a clear vision for their digital platform, Brødrene Kier has transformed their business by leveraging the right tools and platforms. By taking full ownership of their digitalization strategy, they have achieved remarkable results.

Their online revenue and number of orders placed online have increased by more than 50%, and customers have responded positively to the new webshop.

Brødrene Kier has ensured high performance, simplicity, and optimized workflows on kier.dk, giving customers access to multiple accounts and personalized favorite lists.
